What's Nearby
Oahu is the third largest of the Hawaiian Islands, but it is home to nearly two thirds of the population of the state of Hawaii, hence its nickname, “The Gathering Place.” Kaneohe is on the Windward side of the island, and it is a primarily residential community that has a long history as an agricultural center.
Kaneohe is also home to three public golf courses, several state parks, and the Marine Corps Base Hawaii. About 34,000 people live in Kaneohe, representing only about 3% of the total population of the island of Oahu. The Kamehameha Highway is the primary center of Kaneohe as the site of most of the commercial properties in the town.
